Board of Directors

Dr. Kevin Browngoehl is a practicing pediatrician in Drexel Hill, Pa. He has been volunteering with Haiti Clinic since 2010. Dr. Browngoehl has been active in improving healthcare for disadvantaged groups throughout his career. He was a National Health Service Corp physician in Chester, Pa. He served as one of the first medical directors of a Medicaid managed care organization which pioneered immunization registries and outreach for disadvantaged children. He has also been a volunteer with Community Volunteers in Medicine which provides free healthcare for the uninsured. 

Dr. Dirk Parvus received his MD from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa and Family Practice Residency at the Hershey Medical Center (Penn State), he was the Medical Director of the Sebastian River Medical Center and Treasure Coast Hospice and now practices Age Management and Addiction Medicine. During his medical training, he rotated through rural and urban clinics in South Africa, and currently assists local schools in the Sebastian area with annual sports physicals for young athletes.  Dr. Paruvs became involved in the Haiti Clinic project after he responded to a request from Mr. Elian Milliores (Koulou) of the Boston Youth Association in Cite Soleil.  He is guided by scripture that says, “What you do for the least of my bothers you do for me”. 

Jim Dale graduated from the University of Florida School of Pharmacy. After 2 years working as a hospital pharmacist, he switched to retail pharmacy. He is now a pharmacy manager for Publix Pharmacy in Brevard County Florida. He is active in the Brevard County Pharmacy Association and was for 10 years the director of their poison prevention program. He has been the recipient of the Brevard County Pharmacist of the Year award, and the Richards Annual Award for outstanding achievement in the field of Pharmacy public relations in the State of Florida. He has been on mission trips to both Kenya and Haiti. He currently resides in his hometown of Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Dr. Laurie Welton received her Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University. She did her Internship at the Metropolitan Hospital in Michigan. She did a Residency at Tucson General Hospital in Internal medicine. She then did a two-year fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital focusing in Infectious Diseases. She is now a practicing physician specializing in infectious diseases, wound management and travel medicine. She has been volunteering with the Haiti clinic since 2009. 

Dr. Neil Heskel has practiced Dermatology in Vero Beach since 1983. He has been involved with Haiti Clinic for many years and served as past Vice President. Dr. Heskel was serving as President shortly before the earthquake. Since then it has been a major focus of his life and time. Dr. Heskel feels honored to work with our talented and dedicated board and the many volunteers and contributors with whom he comes in contact daily. After his first trip to Cité Soleil with the Haiti Clinic, he was quickly reminded of why he went to medical school.
Dr. Heskel attended Swarthmore College, where he majored in Philosophy, then later received his medical degree from University of Pennsylvania. He finished two years of Pediatric Residency at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and then completed a three-year residency in Dermatology at the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland.
